Omega SA is one of the most well-known creators of luxury watches around, and its no wonder with its founding dating back over one hundred and fifty years. Well, maybe. I’ve a mixed opinion on this product. The base design of the face/dial is strong. Diamond hour marks on the gold watch face look interesting and a nice contrast, although silver-and-gold is one we’ve seen before, especially in watches. There use of gemstones for functionality is fairly extravagant and innovative, and the ring of diamonds around the bezel lends some much needed color to this specific setup.

The issue I raise with this particular product is its lack of variety. Silver and gold is, to be perfectly honest, rather bland with all the different materials available for decoration, and the bulk of this watch is gold. With the fully-gold bezel, bracelet and dial, it seems blunt, overly flashy and uninteresting. Diamonds aside.

But fear not! As is standard with a lot of luxury watch models, the Constellation comes in several color schemes, and most of them are rather impressive. In fact, you’ll find just about any gold/silver/black combination you can think of, even with diamonds in some models, so options are available as far as color – and expense – goes. The shape of the bracelet itself is again something I’m not too fond of, but I could understand appreciation of its its strong, solid appearance over the thinner styles out there.

Functionally, it’s a fine instrument, as can be expected of high-end machinery such as this. The date is displayed in place of a 3-hour mark. The sapphire crystal covering the face is scratch- and glare-resistant, and it sports an impressive water resistance of 100 meters. A clearly-luxury watch that can handle swimming is a nice addition. Also interesting to note is the transparent back, allowing for visible inner workings. Obviously this won’t show up when wearing the watch, but it’s more interesting than some random steel plate back there.

Luxury items are all about personal preference, and the Constellation is no exception. The only thing I can see wrong with this ’95 Omega is its look, which I find to be a bit ostentatious. The small size of the diamonds is a little effeminate…their sparkle offsets what is otherwise a pretty masculine setup. Plus, the red gold might be hard to match with grey or blue business suits, which is a shame because the watch is meant to be worn to the office. But this is all just a matter of personal opinion. If you like the look, then by all means buy the 1103.60.00. Just remember to be wary of getting the watch too wet—like many luxury models, the Constellation is made to withstand hand-washing only.

Yet as bell bottoms have made a come back perhaps all-gold jewelry will swing back into fashion as well. This watch commits to its gold appearance. The whole thing looks as if it were made out of solid gold minus the black roman numerals on the bezel. The case material is made of yellow gold and is 1.5 inches think. The bezel is 18k Yellow Gold with black roman numerals. The bracelet is also 18k gold, is 7 inches long, and is adjustable. The dial color is Champagne with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal over it. The movement of the watch is a self-winding automatic chronometer (quartz).  The caliber of the watch is Omega 1120. It is Swiss made, has a water resistance of 50 meters, and has a power reserve of 44 hours. The functions include: Hours, minutes, center seconds, and date.

Pros: Omega has the reputation of being the first watch on the moon and the preferred choice of James Bond.

Cons: Depreciation? Either there are a lot of fakes out there proclaiming to be legit, or these watches really aren’t as valuable as they used to be. Many websites say they retail for several thousand, but they are selling them for only a couple of hundred.

There seems to be some confusion about what the case and bracelet are really made of. Some websites say solid 18k gold, others say stainless steel, and one even said both.

This watch is not suitable for swimming or diving. Showering with it on should be alright though.

Bottom line: there is just something sketchy about this watch. Not only can online sources not figure out how much the watch is really worth, but there are fakes all over the place. If you are really digging this all gold watch make sure you buy it from an authorized Omega dealer. Besides that, I really have to say that this watch is hideous and looks tacky. It reminds me of something a 70’s themed pimp would wear.

Is what comes to mind.  This is a gorgeous watch.  You don’t have to be a watch expert, or a professional collector to fall for this Omega watch, but I am a professional, and now I will get down to the business of telling you, in a bit more detail, just what I love about this Omega Women’s watch.

Let’s get started; The Omega Co-Axial Chronoscope features a date aperture, and a dial with a small seconds hand.  It is a chronograph, which offers three sub dials.  The movement on these Omega watches is a self winding chronograph, with a column wheel mechanism and, of course the Co-Axial Escapement, which offers greater durability.  The Omega women’s watch is water resistant to 330 feet, and features a scratch resistant, domed sapphire crystal. 

C’mon, this is an Omega, it’s a well made watch, but is that why I went crazy for it? Well, that helps, but to be honest, I was sold on its’ amazing appearance.  The white Mother-of-Pearl dial, the diamond set bezel, and the pearlescent white alligator leather strap…ahh, that’s what I call beautiful.
